看绝望的主妇学英语：房屋经纪人用语Edie篇
绝望的主妇第三季第九集，Edie带Bree及Orson和他的妈妈Hodge夫人参观一处房产，该房子座落在治安管理混乱和四处都是瘾君子和妓女等下三滥的管辖区。尽管房子破烂不堪，周边配套非常不利于常人居住，Edie为促成交易充分发挥其多年房屋经纪人的三寸不烂之舌对该房屋进行粉饰与美化，Orson及其母亲基于现有经济能力，双双决定有多大的能力，将就在此处安顿。怎耐有心里洁癖的Bree，实在难以忍受让未来婆婆居住在如此杂乱不堪的“蛮荒之地”，于是坚决打消了Hodge母子的念头，让Edie的房产经纪买卖就此泡汤。
Edie：Now, this place is a real diamond in the rough. 这个房子可是颗未经雕琢的美钻啊

Bree：Oh, look, a highly motivated cockroach. 有只急于现身的蟑螂

——>> just walking distance to all sorts of fun shops. 步行即可到达各式各样的商店

Orson：We’ll owe them an apology. 那我们还得给他们道个歉
——>> Who cares? She likes it. 谁管这么多啊 她喜欢就行
Bree：Of course she likes. 她当然喜欢了
——>> There’s a 24-hour liquor store across the street. 街对面就有一个24小时营业的酒屋
Orson：She wants a house. 她想要个房子
——>> This is the best we can afford without bankrupting ourselves. 我们要想不破产 只买得起这样的
Bree：Orson, what if something should happen to her? 奥森 万一她遇到什么意外怎么办
——>> Stop worrying about her! Worry about us. 别为她担心了 担心一下我们吧
——>> You realize how much we’ve fought since she came? 你记不记得她来以后我们吵过多少次架了
——>> The woman’s ruined every relationship that’s mattered to me, 那女人毁了我每一段感情

Edie：Oh, my God! 我的天啊
Bree： Are you all right? 你不要紧吧？
Orson：Mother! – -妈妈
Edie：Just a little spill. 就是滑了一下
——>> Her cane hit a loose tile. 她的拐杖触到了一块松了的地砖
Bree： Is anything broken? 有没有摔坏身子
Mrs.Hodge：Well, obviously the damn floor! 都怪这个破地砖
Orson：We’ll need that fixed before she moves in. 她搬来之前你们得修好
Bree：Are you insane? 你疯了吗
——>> She obviously can’t be on her own. 她显然不能独自生活
Orson：It’s a loose tile. 不就是块松了的地砖吗
Mrs.Hodge：I’m perfectly fine. 我毫发未伤
Bree：And what if you weren’t? What if she’d broken something 如果你有事呢？万一她哪摔坏了
——>> and was lying here for hours? 躺在这里一动不动呢
——>> You are coming home with us. 你得跟我们回家
Orson：Bree. 布里
Bree：And I will not hear another word on the subject. 以后我不想再听到这个话题了
